3.2 “环比”的翻译方法
“环比”的用法和译法与“同比”有些相似的地方，但也有区别。用于翻译与“环比”搭配的“上升””和“下降”的英语词汇除了上文介绍之外，还有leap，improvement，slip，dip，shrink等。“环比”译法归纳如下：
3.2.1 month on month
可用month-on-month，month on month，quarter-on-quarter，quarter on quarter翻译“环比”，偶尔也可用month-to-month。month-on-month和quarter-on-quarter兼具定语和状语的功能。例如：
（18）中国国家统计局表示，从月环比看，居民消费价格总水平比4月份下降0.3%。
On a month-on-month basis, the National Bureau of Statistics of China said the CPI dropped 0.3 per cent from April’s level.

3.2.2 “from + 时间”
可用“from + 时间”结构，如from the month before，from the second quarter，from July等翻译。例如：

3.2.3 “compared with / to + 时间”
也可用“compared with / to + 时间”结构，如compared with the previous month，compared to the first quarter等翻译。例如：

除了以上方法，还可用over the preceding quarter，sequential growth，on a sequential basis等翻译。表示几个月或季度连续下降可用“the + 序数词 + straight + month / quarter + of + 表示上升或下降的名词”翻译。例如：
